Vacation Bible School
2010
HIGHLIGHTS
We started planning our Vacation Bible School, not knowing how well it would be received this year…especially with the time change from 8:30-11:30 AM to 4:00-7:00 PM. As it turned out, we had nothing to worry about…God had it all under control! BOY, did he EVER have it under control!
We planted the seed of God’s love and wisdom in the heart of 82 children this summer! The Mission Commander and his trusty sidekick, Galileo the Green Gorilla, took the children on a journey through the Bible each day, with the help of our daily Bible stories, crafts, science, recreation, and music. The children shouted and sang God’s praises each day, made new friends, had wonderful hot meals instead of snacks, and even learned some crazy dance moves…anyone remember “The Techno Dance?”
We supported two mission projects this year. Our local project was the Birthday Bags for the Iowa County Food Pantry, with a mind-blowing 42 completed bags! Holy birthday cake!! The children were asked to bring in money to help support Hari and Rosie, our two “orphaned and abandoned” Interhope children. The children got to drop their change into buckets with the leader’s faces on them. The leaders with the most money got a yummy pie in the face! WELL…including the freewill offering we collected at the closing program, over $800 was collected! PRAISE GOD!! There were several leaders, who got the well-deserved pie in the face, with the top two being Allie Crowe and Maggie Piper! I have to say…they never looked better!

"August 2-6, 2010, our space cadets took a trip into outerspace. We had the privilege to plant the seed of God's love to 82 children.
During the week, our wonderful VBS families brought in 45 completed "birthday bags for children" for the Iowa County Food Pantry and donated over $800.00 for Hari and Rosie, our two sponsored children living in India ... Here are a few pics of highlights... "
