The Café Team is in charge of the smiles from behind the refreshment table between services, as well as ensuring you always have enough hot or cold beverage and snacks while you chitchat with your friends in Fellowship Hall.

The Gift of Hospitality

Sitting areaThis biblical concept is often used with the terms "guest," "stranger," and "sojourner."  Hospitality in this sense means benevolence done to a foreigner or individuals outside one's normal circle of friends, as the literal meaning of the Greek word, "love of strangers,"  implies.  Although the concept is thoroughly endorsed in the Bible, it is clearly found in non-biblical cultures as well, especially among the nomadic peoples, who recognize obligations to provide food, shelter, and protection.  This can still be clearly seen in the culture of the Middle East today.

Here at Dodgeville UMC, we are so blessed to have a ministry team of over 20 individuals that is sold on this concept, too.  They share their individual gifts of hospitality with the rest of the congregation week after week... after week, and usually with a  smile!  Our Café Team looks at what they do in the life of this church as if they were caring for those invited into their own homes.

Now, that's Christian hospitality!
