The Café Team is in charge of the smiles from behind the serving tables after our Sunday morning worship service, as well as ensuring you always have enough hot or cold beverage and snacks while you chitchat with your friends in the Fellowship Hall both before and after church.
The Greeter Team is responsible for making sure regular attenders and guests feel welcome and at home when they arrive through our doors. Need to know where something is, or who to talk to? Find a greeter by their blue nametag, and they can point you in the right direction.
The Gift of Hospitality
This biblical concept is often used with the terms “guest,” “stranger,” and “sojourner.” Hospitality in this sense means benevolence done to a foreigner or individuals outside one’s normal circle of friends, as the literal meaning of the Greek word, “love of strangers,” implies. Although the concept is thoroughly endorsed in the Bible, it is clearly found in non-biblical cultures as well, especially among the nomadic peoples, who recognize obligations to provide food, shelter, and protection. This can still be clearly seen in the culture of the Middle East today.
Here at Dodgeville UMC, we are so blessed to have a ministry team of over 20 individuals that is sold on this concept, too. They share their individual gifts of hospitality with the rest of the congregation week after week.
