Mary of Nazareth

Series: The Journey (2011)

.Sunday, November 27, 2011 | By Rom A. Pegram

Introduction:

Sermon Series ImageToday, we begin a journey that we'll be on throughout the season of Advent (those days leading up to Christmas each year). Our journey will be the same journey that took place over 2,000 years ago in a small country in the Middle East--today called Israel or the Holy Land...

The story is one that is known world-wide. Even those not connected to the Church seem to know the story, as everything this time of year leads up to the celebration of the birthday of our Lord--the day named after him, Christmas. It's the story of a very young woman, engaged to be married to a fairly young man. And God calls them both to a task that more than likely seemed impossible. So, theirs was a story of faith...

As we hear the story this year, maybe for the umpteenth time, it will more than likely be a story of faith for us, too...
"¢ What actually happened leading up to and including the first Christmas?
"¢ What does the story teach us about the character of God?
"¢ What does it tell us about the child whose birth we celebrate?
"¢ And what does this story mean for our lives today?
