Introduction:"Come and See." In the Gospel of John, Jesus responds with these three simple words to a question from two of John the Baptist's disciples. Andrew, and another disciple, accept the invitation, stop following John and become disciples of Jesus, members of his household.
Jesus extends the same invitation to us today, "Come and See." By being present in worship this morning, we have accepted the first part of this invitation. We have made a deliberate decision to spend the next hour in the House of the LORD. But the second part of the invitation, to "See", is a little more subtle. We can see with just our eyes, or we can see with our whole being, with our minds and our hearts and our souls. This is also a deliberate decision. As we spend the next hour worshiping God together, please reflect on how you are "Seeing" Jesus today. Jesus' invitation is to a relationship of love which has no fine print, no boundaries and no expiration date. |
