Peace: Have No Fear

Series: Come Together (2012)

.Sunday, December 9, 2012 | By Rom A. Pegram

Introduction:

Peace be with you! (Response: And also with you!) We often hear that greeting in the Church, but what does that really mean? Many times we understand "˜PEACE' as the opposite of war or in-fighting, but is that what Jesus meant by "˜the peace that he gives'--that he has promised us?

Today, we're going to take a look at that promise of the Advent season: PEACE. We discovered one important promise of the Advent season last week and that is HOPE; but we're also offered PEACE by the one known as "˜The Prince of Peace.' And Jesus tells us (John 14) that he gives us his own PEACE, but not as the world does. So, what does that mean to us? What kind of PEACE can we expect from Jesus, a peace brought to us during that first Christmas some 2,000 years ago? That's where we're going today...
