God Loves You Even When You Don't Love Him

Series: God Loves You (2013)

.Sunday, April 28, 2013 | By Rom A. Pegram

Introduction:

Romans 5:8 (NIV), Paul writes: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." In other words, GOD HAS LOVED US ... EVEN WHEN WE DIDN'T LOVE HIM! Did you know that? Let me share with you where we're going to learn more about that today: Luke 15--the story that's known as The Parable of the Prodigal Son. Here's how Dr. David Jeremiah describes it...
A defiant son, a heartbroken father.
A willful journey into the depths of depravity.
An arrival at the place where hope dies; the defiant now the destitute.
The journey home.
A moment of suspense, an uncertain reception.
Eyes watching; heart hoping; aged feet breaking into a run.
The embrace; a sea of joy overwhelming a desert of despair.

It's no wonder it's been called the crown and pearl of all parables. Charles Dickens described it as the finest short story ever written. 22 verses, holding all the themes of human existence. The characters within represent all of us. And the end of the story demands a response. Folks, today is no exception... As we hear this story of a father's love, ask yourself how much your Heavenly Father loves you.
