Waiting for God

Series: General

.Sunday, December 1, 2013 | By Linda Vance

Introduction:

The Advent Season proclaims the coming of Christ into our world and into our hearts. The season is marked by a time of waiting. Waiting for God to act, waiting for God to come, and waiting for the purposes of God to unfold, all in God's own time.

Today we prepare for the nativity of our Lord as we meet Zechariah and Elizabeth in the Gospel story. They are righteous before God, on in years, and in spite of great heartache in their own lives, they are faithful and good. In old age, they hear the news that they will have a son and he will be named John. He will grow to up to preach repentance to the people and prepare the way of the Lord.

As we prepare our hearts for worship, may God still any voice in us but His own, that hearing his Word we might obey his will and open our hearts to receive him.
