Don't Honk... Push!

Series: Live the Fruit of the Spirit (2015)

.Sunday, September 13, 2015 | By Jim Droste

Introduction:

The Advance-Titan, the student newspaper of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh used to have a section called the Gripe Line. You could anonymously call a number leave a message and your gripe could be printed in the newspaper. It might surprise you, or maybe it doesn't surprise you, to know what people are willing to say when they know that there is no way that they can be held accountable. People had the opportunity to stick it to the person who stuck it to them.

Imagine if a Gripe Line column existed in the Dodgeville Chronicle. Even better, imagine if there was such a column in The Compass, our church newsletter. What do you think people might say about one another? What a wonderful community we would have if we could speak of, or speak to, others they way we would we want want them to speak of or to us. It sure would be a nice place to live.
This is the first of nine Sundays in which we will talk about one of the fruits of the Spirit that Paul talks about in Galatians. Our focus today will be on love. It's the first on the list, but many think that love encapsulates all of the other eight fruits.

Love is more than a feeling. It is a mindset, a way of life, something that must be put into action.
