This is the one Sunday of the year where we celebrate church membership, as well as confirm those who are committing today to stay on the journey, making their way toward an official connection with the local church in the years ahead. Let's begin with this:

Many who are present today have been members of a local church for a long time now. But, how often have you ever stopped to wonder why? Is your membership at the church the same as your membership in other organizations ... or is it different? And, frankly, does it really matter?

Well, today we're going to hear from Scripture about the importance of membership in the local Body of Christ--why it does matter. Even more than that, we're going to find out why it is really impossible to be obedient in our walk with God and not end up in membership somewhere. Does membership matter?
