The Gift ExchangeSeries: General |
.Sunday, December 29, 2013 | By Gail Ray |
Introduction:On Tuesday evening, we celebrated Christmas Eve, to honor the birth of Jesus. As part of the Christmas celebration, many of us participated in exchanging gifts with friends and family. These are physical tokens of our love, and we often get as much joy from giving as we do from receiving. However, all of our gifts pale in comparison to the most incredible gift the world has ever received from God, which is the birth of Jesus. God actually entered the world through Jesus, who then lived his life as a person who was both fully human and fully divine. Never before or since has God entered the world this way! Because of Jesus, we can live in peaceful relationships with other people, giving and receiving, serving and loving. Today, we have another chance to celebrate and accept this incredible gift that God has extended to the world. We also have a chance to give our gift of worship, as a small token to say "Thank You" for all of the blessings we have received. |
