Introduction:

As we continue in our series about learning to live & love like Jesus, we finally get to the part where we talk about what keeps us from a generous heart...

We know, from scripture, that Christ commands us to give. And we also know--especially after last week, that God offers us great rewards for giving. So, the big question today is this: Why then is it so hard to give?

Well, there are many roadblocks to giving: unbelief, insecurity, pride, idolatry, desire for power and control ... and the list could go on and on. And our culture does help; the culture, often including our churches, makes it hard to swim upstream. It's considered "˜normal' to keep far more than we give. So, what are we supposed to do about that? That's where we're going today...
