God is DangerousSeries: Under Wraps (2014) |

Introduction:![]() In the Old Testament, Abraham, Moses, and Jonah were called by God to do tasks that were dangerous. God called Abraham to leave home, Moses to return home, and Jonah to go to his enemies’ home. God gave them all the strength they needed to fulfill their calls. Maybe you’ve heard this: “God doesn’t call the equipped; God equips those who are called.” Our Old Testament cast lived that saying! They offered us proof of what God can do, even when the circumstances are dangerous… And then came Jesus, with a dangerous mission. Arriving unexpectedly, he wasn’t the kind of leader people hoped for. The Wise Men traveled a great distance to visit the baby Jesus … and this upset King Herod, when he learned they were searching for a king he knew nothing about! Jesus was also a dangerous teacher, teaching with authority. The people loved him, but the religious leaders—not so much. Jesus turned religion on its head & called his disciples to leave everything and follow him. They were summoned to a mission that would change the world. Their mission was exciting, but it was also dangerous. It cost many of them their lives… Folks, we’re also called by God. God’s call pushes us out of our comfort zones, just as the disciples were pushed out of theirs. So, where might God be calling you today? Or your church? What seems dangerous about the call? |
