Introduction:

Just about everyone knows what it feels like to be forgotten. When we experience that feeling, sometimes it makes us hesitant to believe that anyone could ever be faithful. There are other times when we’re the ones who in some way have been unfaithful, whether intentionally or unintentionally. So it’s not surprising that some of us go into relationships holding back, not fully committing or letting our guard down. This way of dealing with others may even affect our relationship with God.

Throughout the Old Testament we read of God’s faithfulness to his people … even when they weren’t faithful in return. God made a covenant with them. Covenants are not to be confused with contracts … and we’ll get into the difference between those two in just a little bit. Suffice it to say that God, who is always faithful, fulfills the covenant whether the people do or not…
