Born in Bethlehem

Series: So it is Written (2011)

Sunday, March 13, 2011 | By Rom A. Pegram

Introduction:

Wired for Worship WebAdEach year, during the season of Lent, our pastor always looks for new and fresh ways to point us toward Christ. That's what the season of Lent is all about--understanding that we have a condition (original sin) and that we are helpless in that condition without the intervention of God. This season is all about that "˜intervening'--namely the birth, life, death & resurrection of God's Son, Jesus.

The new way that we're going to be "˜pointed toward Christ' this year ... is through the voices of the Old Testament prophets. Today, we're going to learn--basically--what prophecy really is ... and the purpose of prophecy. We're going to get to know the term "˜messianic prophecy,' because that is where the HOPE of this season lies. We're going to find out that God keeps his promises! He loved us long before we even were! And, truly, God's love will never fail us...
