Up the Mountain

Series: The Way (2013)

.Sunday, March 3, 2013 | By Gail Ray

Introduction:

Last week, we learned about Jesus' healing ministry around the Sea of Galilee. Today, we are continuing to follow Jesus on "The Way", by heading up the mountains. Many events in the Old Testament happened on mountains, where people like Abraham and Moses had an encounter with God. Jesus often used the mountains as a place to get away from the crowds, so he could pray and listen to God. Jesus also used the mountains as a place to teach about the nature of the Kingdom of God, so people could learn to live their lives differently. Normal people like you and me need mountains in our lives too, where we can get away from our busy schedules, to walk and pray and listen to God. It is in these times and these places where we can reflect on how we need to let the teachings of Jesus change our lives. Right now, right here, can be one of those times and one of those places, if we are willing to open our hearts, and truly worship and learn.
