I Thirst!

Series: Christ on the Cross: Love Personified (2014)

.Sunday, April 6, 2014 | By Rom A. Pegram

Introduction:

Today, we hear--compared to the others--what may seem like the most insignificant phrase Jesus uttered from the place of crucifixion ... but was it? That's what we're going to be asking today, as we dig into yet another statement Jesus made from the cross...

In the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 25, and verse 35a & 40, it reads: "For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink [and a list of several other things]..." Then, in verse 40 it goes on to say, "And the King will say, "˜I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'" So, when was the last time you offered Jesus a drink? When was the last time you noticed someone who was physically or spiritually thirsty and offered them a drink ... of either water or the Living Water--that they'd never be thirsty again? That's what we're going to explore today...
